On October 14, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Peter Tschentscher, the Minister President and First Mayor of Hamburg. Hamburg is Germany's leading economic center and a major transit port in Europe and globally.

Hamburg mayor Tschentscher is pushing for direct flights to Asia, including China and Vietnam, arguing they would benefit the city's international trade. He raised Hamburg as a possible European destination during a closed-door visit with Vietnamese airline Vietjet, which has ordered 100 Airbus A321neo jets largely built in Hamburg. Hamburg airport CEO Christian Kunsch said he will ensure the city makes a competitive offer for new Vietnam-Germany routes, though chances against rivals like Berlin remain open.
